Game Description:

Doom is a reboot of the classic Doom that debuted all the way back in 1994. Overall, this 2016 version is the fourth title in the series. However, the previous game (Doom 3) was released all the way back twelve years ago in 2004. That is quite a long time to go without installments so don’t be shocked to see quite a difference in graphics and system requirements from the previous installments. My big Alienware rig dates back to 2009 and I can not run Doom yet unfortunately.

Players can blast there way through both single player and multiplayer modes. However, it should be noted that this new version is best regarded for it single player mode so far. Hopefully, the multiplayer aspects will improve over time with the feedback from the franchise’s vast player community. Would also love to see mods for this version.

Dishonored is one of those rare games that comes along to knock established genres on their collective ears. Not only is the best stealth game to grace the PC, but it is also one of the best FPS games period.  The best part is that you can play the game how you want as long as you complete the missions. For example, I employ the high chaos play style because I like to get the job done without having to worry about guards. Ogres are not exactly masters of stealth anyway. The DLC is also worth getting and adds even more value to an instant classic.

Overwatch is a very popular multiplayer first person shooter by Blizzard. In fact, it is a category killer like WoW was for many years. Players form two teams of six each. Like MOBAs, each player chooses a hero character with various attributes, movements, and skills. Actually, the game could also be considered a MOBA or a maybe a MOBA shooter since it has elements of both genres. Of course, the MOBA genre is the hot one right now with League of Legends as the top of the mountain there. Only time will tell, but Overwatch already has built a large player base and could eventually develop into a serious competitor for LoL.

Battle Splash itself is made with inspirations from water guns and classic shooters for an enjoyable experience for all ages. Currently, the game doesn’t have the release date yet since the developer is still making more content. However, it is being planned for a Steam Greenlight campaign and subsequent Early Access release.

Get familiar to the use of “bro” because the game uses it by the truckload. In fact, this review will not exactly be bro-free either. To be fair, the concept works and the game is well on to being a cult-classic in addition to being a tribute to the action-packed 80s. The game just officially launched last week and has already developed a massive following on Steam along with very positive reviews. The video and theme song below shows an example of the game’s high marketability.  In other words, the bro franchise is currently firing on all cylinders.

My Alienware PC even showed tribute to the game with a special light show that no other game has been able to incite yet. I normally run with a blue alien head on the PC and a blue keyboard, but my rig explodes with flashing colors every few seconds whenever I run the game. None of the games above including Terraria are capable of doing that so it cant be called old school in that regard at all. That is my only real con with Broforce.

The game itself is brilliant and can be very addictive whether you were around during the 80s or not. Being able to scale walls with a knife or blow up everything around you never seems to get old. There are also bucket loads of different bros to keep play interested whether you are playing bro-op, death match, or even solo. The replay value is very high because there is also a level editor for the community to create further action adventures. There are even explosion runs where you can partner with other bros for time attack runs through exploding surroundings. Like the Expendables movies (of which Broforce had a free game called the Expendabros), Broforce is likely the start of a very successful action game franchise.

Questing and following the story is also a big part of the game so RPG fans will be happy. Only wish it were longer but it does have 3 playthroughs.

Elements of role-playing games have been creeping in all over FPS games in the past few years, but in Borderlands it’s a wholesale hybridisation. Not, I should point out, in terms of choices, story and consequences – that remains with the likes of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – but with loot, levels, stats, skills and fiddling about in your inventory to max out your character. Gearbox says it’s created a role-playing shooter, an RPS (which sounds strangely familiar to my ears), and that means you’ll be playing a shooter that feels a lot like, well, like an MMO.

Getting loot is ridiculously addictive, and there’s enough content to keep you busy for days. But let’s remember that we’re voting for the best SHOOTER here, and that’s the part the Borderlands doesn’t get quite right. Colision detection on snipers is dodgy at long range, even with the most accurate guns, and the game honestly feels too much like a Halo clone with iron-sights in terms of its shooting, with jumping around the enemy with a shotgun being the order of the day While the sheer number of guns is awe-inspiring, the fact of the matter is that, after a while, all the different types feel the same. There’re a handful of fairly generic weapon frames, and every gun (even the uniques) is put into one of these before having a whole load of variables changed, from its stock and optics to its elemental damage. It just feels too formulaic, and as a result you can’t help but feel that, after firing maybe five guns of each type, that you’ve shot them all. True, anything else that claims to be a true modern RPG-Shooter pales in comparison to Borderlands. I feel that Deus Ex was better, but it’s too outdated (and no, this isn’t nostalgia speaking; I played Deus Ex for the first time two weeks ago). But, frankly, there’re better shooters than Borderlands (Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2), and there’re better RPGs (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc.), and that’s why I don’t think it deserves the top spot in either of the two categories. It’s damn good at both of the things it tries to do. It’s just nowhere near as good as the big boys in either league.

Every other person here already knows that Borderlands is a great Fallout 3/Diablo-style looting RPG. But the shooter element is nicely done and implemented with the RPG element as well. You gradually get better, and more accurate guns as you progress. You start out thinking you’re barely scratching your enemies, and end up taking out an entire group of them in a few shots. The huge variety of guns certainly helps this. The elemental damage feels very satisfying, and it’s even more satisfying to go through the levels, getting better and better, unlocking more guns and explosives and weapons, and thinking to yourself,”Man, I pwn now!”. Enemies are wide and varied as well, which is what you would expect from such a massive game. While this game doesn’t have team-based FPS combat, the co-op combined with the massive amount of content makes this a very worthy FPS indeed.

I like it better when it takes a while to kill people because it gives you more of that “owned” feeling. I found campaign super fun compared to multiplayer, don’t know why lol. The game itself took me a long time to download because it was so big O_O. I loved the commander dude though, it was funny messing up on purpose and having him say stuff lol. Overall this game is too realistic is a way but it is fun.

It is so realistic from aiding a fellow soldier on the ground in need, to weapons that the US army uses. The training is awesome because it brings you the feeling like you’re actually in the US army! I can’t stop playing this game! It is easy to kill enemies and that’s how it should be. Because about 3-6 shots will kill an enemy, not 10; well done on that. The installation took about an hour or so, depending on how many GHz ur computer is running on and the RAM. This is a completly must have game! 10 no doubt!

It is kind of fun to do the trining missions. But after training is when you hit the major problem. I spent 2 hours once trying to play. Notice how I said trying. I havent seen a more complicated match making system in my life. I clicked myltiplayer. And I was like WTF what do I click now. Don’t even bother with this one. Operation 7 is the way to go.

The basic training I thought was amazing, with very entertaining and authentic army voice acting, although the sarge never actually cusses you out. It is EXTREMELY realistic which, in my opinion, is frikkin’ cool, and everything about this game seems like it should be right. Big problem though, it’s not. It’s SO realistic, that there really are no head-to-head firefights that I, as a big FPSer, enjoy. You really don’t get to run up on a guy and blast em, with the guy who aims best winning. The fact is, the guy who shoots first wins about 80% of the time. It only takes one or two bullets to kill someone, so there is no real battle, its just whoever shoots first wins, which is extremely dissapointing. You get ten times more kills based on luck then on skill. Camping gets you HUGE kills compared to everything else, since it makes guns more accurate when you are still or laying down, and you get to shoot first which is the most important thing. The problem is, it’s just SO realistic, that if you even get shot one time you bleed to death without the aid of a medic, and since there is only like 1 medic in the game usually your just dead, and that’s just no fun at all. Real war isn’t fun people. it’s lame. Still, another awesomely cool thing about this, is that there are real army men who play this, and there is a little symbol next to their name when they are on active duty or wut ev. and plus they usually own at this game. It’s also really freaking laggy in a lot of parts. The only REAL firefights that you get in this game are from people shooting around corners at each other, like in the bridge match. You peek out and shoot, and then hide again before you can get shot. Realistic, but boring boring boring. Maybe it’s for some people, but if you want a little bit more ‘skill’ required in aiming and thinking, your better off with a game like War Rock.

There’s a game here, somewhere, but I keep dying, like, every three seconds because some dink insists on spamming grenades and bullets into hallways I want to walk through. If this is what the Army is like, count me out. Those terrorists are frickin’ grenade whores.

Post Date: 20:05 24-07-2006 Rating: 8 Author: Exorcism Comment: This is the real deal (in a game ^^), training is cool… but hard, you can even get medic training, you go to class… and take a test… lol, i donno if i liked it or not, but the multiplayer is awesome ^^ You cant just run around and kill stuff, cus you die as fast as you would in real life…. Awesome… or not… cant make up my mind ^^ 8 out of 10

The gameplay is really good. Since the damaging is realistic (as far as I can tell:) ) ,you have to be very careful and that makes the game pretty exciting. Only things that are somewhat annoying are the training missions ,wich you NEED to complete to get to some missions or be able to use some guns and proffesions. Sadly some of these training missions are quite long and really boring.
