Although the game is currently on fire, Bayonetta is not a new game by any means. In fact, it was first released in 2009. The most recent version of the game was released on PCs via Steam on April 11, 2017. What makes the game so special? Bayonetta is a highly stylized action game masterpiece. The lead character stands out more than most as a double tough witch that oozes charisma despite being more bad than good. The graphics definitely don’t hurt either.

Dungeon Defenders 2 has not been the surprise hit its predessor was, but that could change with a combination of its free price tag and the new Terraria crossover content. What is surprising is that the original Dungeon Defenders and Terraia were two of the first Steam games to be favorites in our community. In fact, those two games were our very first four packs that were shared with top GameOgre members.

Dungeon Defenders 2 was set to be a MMORPG at one point and it finally was made into a free-2-play game on Steam. Should be even a bigger hit than the orginal right? Not quite as we have tried a couple of livestreams in the game with little success. The problem could be the large download (around 10 GBs now) or the different character models, but I think it was that some members here failed to really get into the game. I am guilty of this myself and I loved the first game.

The new Terraria (which a game that must be bought) content could help the game get more attention to get it over the proverbial hump even as a free game. It definitely got my interest as I like the possibilities of such a collaboration. Terraria has smallish graphics so the ability to experience some of that game’s content in a 3D world is intriguing. Hopefully, it is just a start to what these two games can do together. A unique world that can not be found elsewhere should help the sequel gain more needed fans. At the very least, GameOgre.com will be livestreaming Dungeon Defenders 2 Friday at 3:30 PM Central time on our Ogremedia Twitch Channel.

No matter your location, Ice Lakes stands as one of the best ways to experience fishing without leaving your house. This holds especially true for me and ice fishing since I have never seen a frozen lake even once in the good old state of Texas. Texans usually fish off the bank or on a pier if not in a boat. You are also required to get a fishing license that is around $40 and lasts at the most just one year. The last time I went fishing we didn’t catch a thing, got stuck in the mud, and was visited by the game warden to top everything else off. Would have been better off going to best-slots-sites.co.uk to actually have some fun.

Thus, the idea of drilling a hole in the middle of a frozen lake to just relax and enjoy fishing appealed to me. The only other game that I enjoyed fishing in was Stardew Valley and that is just one aspect of that game. Ice Lakes is focused fully on fishing, but it does have its own open world that you can enjoy.

I just hopped on the ice and started drilling hole. Then I sank my line in the hole. You then get experience sounds from mother nature like you would if you were there in person. The game prompts you to move your rod a little and to scoop out ice from the whole, but the rest is just you waiting on a fish. Do not expect one right off because it took me time before I got a nibble. Once a fish is on the line, you have real it in while not putting too much pressure on the line. If the tension is high enough, the line will break. I managed to reel in a 225g Perch on my first try and it was a great feeling.

Although the gameplay is great and can be relaxing, the other reason why I bought Ice Lakes is that it has Virtual Reality support. Can’t wait to try the game with VR when i get it. VR is just the “icing” on the cake when it comes to Ice Lakes. Overall, it is the best fishing simulator I have ever played.

Bloodbowl is where fantasy meets american football. Bloodbowl started as tabletop game by Games Workshop that parodied football in an alternate version of the vaunted Warhammer fantasy universe. RimWorld is a prime example of a great game that does not have to have the latest graphics or take up the size of Texas on your hard drive. Instead, the game commands your attention and imagination as a story generator. Graphics function as a small part of the game because it is so deep. The people in your colony have different relationships that play a key role along with many other factors such as climate, pirates, and the overall story coming directly at you with different twists and turns.

The story is just part of the game as you have a plethora choices to make. You have to choose your colonists and these can be a wide a varied group. Do not expect experts because the colonists each have glaring imperfections such as personal demons, lack of training, and just general inexperience. You command this motley crew to build a base and fend for themselves. In my very first game, a romance started almost immediately with an ogreish looking guy and a big woman called (I kid you not) called Bear. Although I had to start over in the tutorial in order figure out how to play, that caught my attention right away.

Do yourself a favor and start with the tutorial. There is so much to do that you will get lost without it. Even with the tutorial, the game will not guide you through everything. The tutorial ends after sending a small invading force to test your colonists and security. You then have to learn how to bandage your wounded after the attack yourself. Overall, RimWorld deserves your time to learn how to play since it offers so much game-play to experience despite the basic graphics and small file size.

If you missed recent mega blockbusters such as Overwatch and Rocket League when they first launched, don’t worry because you may have another chance at getting in at the very beginning of a very hot game with Battlerite. Battlerite is an action-packed team brawler arena game that, like the previous two games, has taken the best elements from MOBAs to make an incredible fighting game. There is no worrying about minions or lanes or even having to hear trash talk from enemies or teammates. If somebody is talking trash in this game, they are likely going to die.

Talking players will likely die because there is no time for talking. Matches are down and dirty because Battlerite dispenses with all the fluff that usually precedes such action in most other games. There are no towers to take down or levels to grind, just two teams looking to kill each other in a small arena.  Actually, the arena can contract over time with a darkness that damages and eventually kills anybody inside it. This lovely feature is called Sudden Death. When I first saw it, I thought it was signaling an overtime period. However, that is not the case if you find yourself in it. The only way to avoid it is to stay in the light.

If your teams wins three games they get the victory and help to advance you and your chosen champion further. You also get chests by completing tasks such as finishing the tutorial, joining the game’s Steam Group (that got me 4 or 5 chests), and daily quests. The chests are nice and usually offer up avatars along with rare items. Lastly, the different champions drive home the fact that you must learn each one to achieve success in the arena.

Description and Comments

Spintires is the premier off-road game to buy on any system. In fact, this is the breakthrough game after many years of flashy and some not-so-flashy clunkers. What makes Spintires successful as an offroading/mudding game where others have failed? It comes down to great physics and an editor that has helped to fuel a robust user community with free user-created content. This content comes in the forum of new vehicles, maps, and mods. basically, any vehicle that is not military has been created by a user. This adds a lot of value to a game that retails at $30. However, Spintires has been in at least one Humble Bundle and can usually be bought at established digital marketplaces like the one below.

The oddest thing about this game is that it had a bug so bad back in earlier 2016 that it was actually pulled from Steam. The bug made the game unplayable and there were even rumors of sabotage. Nevertheless, the bug was fixed and the game was thankfully brought back to Steam. I have not seen a game being pulled that many times so it is definitely something to note. Still, it does not take away from the fact that Spintires is the game to get if you want to go offroading in a very wide variety of vehicles.

One Troll Army is definitely a rare game. In addition to the obvious draw for GameOgre with the great name and brilliant concept (Why can’t more developers do this?), the game is well-made and due to a challenge from the developers OTA is actually free. Yes, free as anybody can download from Steam without a paying a nickel. This is definitely one case where you get far more than what you pay for. Simply go to the page on Tiny Build’s site that describes the interesting event. In a nutshell, the developers challenged Twitch chat to beat them as the giant troll which I think looks more like an ogre. If they could win, the game would be free. Well, they won and the game has been free ever since.

The game itself is fairly self explanatory as the tutorials help you build the fortress for goblins that you have to defend. You are given some slackers to perform duties such as building, repairs, logging, and looting. As you get more resources, you can build different areas like the walls, town hall, tavern and wall towers. Keep in mind that enemies slowly gather together and attack every so often. You have to maintain your health and the health of the fortress. If either reach 0, the wave has defeated you. After every win, you assign looters to pick up the resources. Managing the goblins is what you mainly do during your “One Ogre” crusade. Ok, I couldn’t resist hehehe. The troll is basically by himself besides the towers. I did recruit an orc merc, but I did not know how to move him at all. He would not join the goblin slackers in chores and he would run inside the fort during every invasion.

If that were not enough, One Troll Army is one of the very few games where Twitch Chat can actually control the armies against you. I just livestreamed the game before posting this article but I was fighting with OBS and had to use monitor capture. However, OTA could still be the perfect game for our Ogre Game Time sessions every week. Besides, if the troll were blue it would look a lot like a bigger HD version of our first GameOgre mascot:).

Grim Dawn is an action RPG (ARPG) a.k.a. hack and slash game that launched on February 2016. Great games in this popular genre have been somewhat slim over recent years. Several games come to mind that have been good and shown flashes of brillance like Van Helsing and Victor Vran, but there hasnt been that real blockbuster the way that the Diablo series has been. Sure, there have been good to middling action RPG series like Sacred and Dungeon Siege but both those series seem to go down with each new installment.

Grim Dawn, on the other hand, could be the start of a true rival series to Diablo as the game is that well made. Instead of being a Diablo clone, Grim Dawn looks to innovate the whole genre. You can see this in the game’s complex character development, dual class system, factions that add a new layer of gameplay, game choices that really matter, and rogue-like Dungeons. Play the game yourself and you will see why it is easily the best ARPG in years.

Furthermore, the GD runs surprisingly well for being so new. I have a 2009 Alienware and it runs great after the game first loads. In contrast, most new games, especially those that require Direct11 and above, do not run at all or you wish they didnt. Nothing is worse than a beauitiful game scene turn into a slow moving sideshow that freezes your rig eventually. Instead, Grim Dawn runs like a dream with stellar game play and beautiful graphics in some areas. If you read this within the next month, be sure to buy the Humble Monthly for $12 to get GD and seven other games. You can’t beat that type of a bargain on the best Action RPG today.

Game Description:

Although before GTA 4 and GTA 5, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is still considered by some gamers to be the best in the series. While GTA 4 has had technical difficulties and a smaller world than GTA SA, GTA 5 has been hurt somewhat by online play. GTA SA was one of the most controversial games ever due, in large part, to the infamous Hot Coffee mod. However, the game itself stands out as truly unique. Besides the aforementioned large sized world at the time, GTA SA had fun RPG elements, surprisingly fun gameplay like riding a bike, great characters and voice actors (see the video below), and a heaping amount of spectacular music. You can even try such surprising games as Heart Bingo for the first time. Although a very old game by today’s standard, it still does not feel like it because of the game’s sky high production value.
